LED downlights are more efficient than their halogen counterparts, by a long shot! A standard halogen will take around 55W of energy, where an LED downlight runs on just 10W of energy. Your energy bill (and the planet!) will thank you for making the switch.

LED downlights also produce more light than the standard halogen globe. You’ll get around 1,100 lumens from a downlight, as opposed to roughly 700 lumens from a halogen.

LED downlights produce far less heat than other types of globes, including your halogen and incandescent globes. This makes them far safer for recessed installation in ceilings, especially where insulation is present, significantly reducing the risk of fire.

On average, LED downlights consume around 1/5th the energy of a halogen downlight, lasting between 25 000 to 50 000 hours, whereas a halogen downlight will only give around 2000 to 4000 hours before needing replacement. This makes switching to LED downlights a friendly choice for your energy bill and your wallet!
Bucks Electrical can install all types of LED downlights, from standard fixed to adjustable, recessed, dimmable and surface mounted. We also have a range of LED colours and brightness available: 2700K–3500K (warm white), 3500K–4500K (daylight/neutral white), 4500K–6500K (cool white).

Our LED downlight installation service is fully comprehensive, no cutting corners here.
We prefer to start with a site visit, so we can accurately assess the scope of the project and offer the best advice for your lighting needs from within the space itself. We can also walk through your requirements over the phone. This will help us create an upfront quote and give you an idea of how long the project will take.
Once we’ve got a plan, we’ll:
We only use quality LED downlights with solid warranties and provide all the relevant certification and compliance documents once the job’s done.

Give us a call and we’ll arrange a time to come and do an obligation-free site visit – this is our preferred method of assessment, as it allows us to properly inspect and understand the job scope, while giving you a chance to get to know us before anything is official. We’ll let you know the job cost and estimated timing before we start work, so no surprises in the bill later.

On average, upgrading existing halogens to LEDs is from $80+GST per light. Installing brand new downlights with new wiring is from $200+GST per light. While LEDs may have a higher initial investment, they generally repay this investment within a year through reduction in electrical bills.

All Bucks Electrical work comes with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW), as required for all electrical work in NSW.

We mainly work with Voltex, a world-renowned, premium manufacturer of LED downlights and other electrical products. All Voltex downlights come with a 7-year manufacturer's warranty, which also covers our labour to repair or replace faulty downlights under warranty. This means when we’ve installed Voltex downlights on your premises, you are covered with a genuine 7-year complete warranty — parts and labour.

I recently used Bucks Electrical to replace several lights and install a new feature light in my kitchen, and I couldn’t be happier with the service.
From the first contact, Steve was professional, responsive, and easy to deal with. Communication was excellent throughout the process, and he arrived exactly when they said they would. It’s refreshing to find a trades business that is so reliable and respectful of my time.
The quality of workmanship was outstanding. The new kitchen feature light was installed with detail and looks fantastic.
Everything was completed neatly, safely, and to a very high standard, with the work area left clean and tidy afterward.
Their pricing was also fair and represented excellent value for the quality of service provided.
If you’re looking for an electrician who is professional, trustworthy, punctual, and takes genuine pride in their work, I highly recommend Bucks Electrical. I’ll definitely be using them again for any future electrical work.
No — a key or access arrangement is fine.
Downlights are mainly installed into plasterboard ceilings. We don’t work on ceilings that may contain asbestos, and concrete slab ceilings generally can’t have downlights retrofitted unless there are already downlight cavities existing in the slab.
We assess larger or whole-house jobs individually and can often work out a better rate depending on the scope — get in touch for a tailored quote.
